Subtitles/Karaoke

Once my daughter started to read a few words here and there, I turned on subtitles every time she watched a show or a movie. I challenged her to look down at the words from time to time. The show that actually made her want to try reading is the Encanto Live performance on Disney+. She wanted to sing along, so that made her try reading. I knew she didn't read that fast, but the fact that she was looking at the words was good. The subtitle trick works best with shows and movies with songs. Try a mini karaoke session with the family using subtitles and have your child try to read the words as they sing along!
