Reading Program: Learning Dynamics

Before I started my daughter on sight words, I had looked into various reading programs. BOB books were very popular amongst the moms in my circle at the time. I bought the first set for beginners and was a bit shocked at how difficult they made the first level reading material. It showed me that those books might be better for kids who have the basic knowledge of phonics and sight words. Being a bit discouraged, I eventually ended up teaching my daughter the basics on my own.

Once she learned her phonics, I wanted to find books that had the types of words that she would be able to read. The BOB books were organized very well, but still had a lot of words that she did not know at the time. I could tell that my daughter was losing confidence in what she learned. One day I randomly came across a reading program called Learning Dynamics. The advertisement showed how the books were organized and I was convinced. When I received the material, I was pleasantly surprised with how much of it was geared towards helping new readers build their foundation. I wish I had come across it sooner so I could have used that.

I started my daughter on the books and she read it very easily because it had all of the words that she could sound out at the time. I went through the stories and picked out the ones that she would know how to read and that is how I continued to teach my daughter. I cannot speak for the entire program because we only used the books. But from what I saw with the content and material, it seems like a great way to teach children the basics on how to read. When they claimed that kids will start to read in 4 weeks, I did not believe it. Now it makes sense why that could be the case for many.

If you have a child who has already started their phonics and knows how to sound out words, I highly recommend the Learning Dyanmics reading material. The levels are split in a way where the progression is slow and easy to follow for children. Let me know in the comments if you try it out or if you have other reading programs that worked for your child!
